Hudson Yards, a $15 billion project that is already declared as project of the century, went into the serious stage. After several design changes, phase 1 of the new neighborhood development got green light. Final design is similar to the previous one about which we were reporting earlier this year in detailed post about new New York towers.
Phase 1, which broke the ground this week, is development of the eastern part of site in west Manhattan, between 11th and 10th avenues. According to the final design, there will be four new buildings, large green area as a public square, retail and cultural spaces, everything built above the rail yard.

"The South Tower’s relationship with the High Line and proximity to Culture Shed gives the building a unique and visible presence in Chelsea. The introduction of smaller scale elements at the base of the building’s design, such as stone colonnades and a dramatic atrium, relate to the vibrant activity in nearby public spaces."
